AURA Weather - local forecast and severe weather alerts
AURA Weather is the weather layer inside Aura: current conditions, 24 hours, 7 days and an animated rain radar for wherever you are, plus an opt-in push alert when something serious is coming. Forecast data comes from MET Norway, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, and the radar from RainViewer. Where an official government warning feed exists it is shown as such; everywhere else AURA reads the forecast against severe-weather thresholds and labels the result clearly as an app reading, never as an official warning. Your position is stored rounded to about a kilometre and used for nothing else.
Why use AURA Weather
Push only for orange and red conditions - strong wind, heavy rain, snow, thunderstorms, extreme heat or cold - at most one every three hours.
See where the rain is now and where it is heading over the next half hour, on a map centred on you.
Official government warnings are marked official. AURA readings of the forecast are marked as such, with a pointer to your national civil protection service.
Location is opt-in, requested only when you tap, stored rounded to roughly one kilometre, and never shared or sold.

Frequently asked questions
Is AURA Weather free?
Yes. The forecast, the rain radar and the severe weather alerts are all free, with no separate subscription and no AuraCoins cost.
Are the alerts official weather warnings?
Where a free official feed exists the warning is shown as official: MeteoAlarm covers 38 European countries and the National Weather Service covers the United States. Elsewhere Aura reads the forecast against severe-weather thresholds and labels the result as an AURA AI reading. For official warnings always follow the civil protection service of your country.
How accurate is the location Aura stores?
Your coordinates are rounded to two decimals, roughly one kilometre. That is enough for local weather and deliberately too coarse to identify a home address. You can revoke the permission at any time in your browser.
How often will I be notified?
Only for orange or red conditions, and at most once every three hours. The same phenomenon is never pushed twice.
Which countries does it cover?
The forecast and the radar work worldwide. Official warning feeds are integrated where they are free and public; everywhere else you get the AURA reading of the same forecast data.
Do the alerts include hail and tornadoes?
Yes, wherever an official warning exists. Hail, sudden squalls and tornadoes are convective phenomena that no point forecast can predict: they come from the warnings issued by national weather services, which Aura receives through MeteoAlarm for 38 European countries and through the National Weather Service in the United States. In those cases the notification carries the service own official text, in your language when the feed publishes it. Where no free official feed exists Aura can warn you about the thunderstorm but not about the hail or the tornado itself, and says so.
