AI Habit Coach — proactive nudges that actually help

The AI Habit Coach is the part of Aura that speaks first. Rather than waiting for you to open an analysis screen, it reads yesterday and today from your own completion record and produces one message: a short piece of encouragement grounded in what actually happened, and where it makes sense, a suggested next habit chosen because it fits the pattern that is already working for you. The rate limit is the design, not a restriction — it is capped at roughly one interaction a day and cached, because a coach that pings you six times becomes noise you learn to dismiss, and a dismissed nudge is worth less than none. It is also deliberately narrow. This is behavioural: completion patterns, streak risk, what to add next. Mindset, motivation and emotional work belong to the AI Mental Coach, which is a separate feature with a different job. Keeping them apart is what stops either from becoming a generic chatbot that does both badly.

Why use AI Habit Coach

It reaches out first

The coach reads your recent completions on its own and surfaces a nudge, instead of waiting for you to go looking for an analysis screen.

Suggestions built on what works

The recommended next habit is chosen from your own completion history — what you have actually sustained — rather than from a generic starter list.

Encouragement tied to real progress

Messages reference what you actually did this week. Nothing here is a motivational quote with your name substituted into it.

Capped at one a day, on purpose

Rate-limited and cached daily so each nudge stays worth reading. A coach you learn to swipe away has already failed.

How the AI Habit Coach works in Aura

  1. 1

    Log your habits

Check in habits as you do them. The coach has nothing to work from until there is a completion record to read.

  2. 2

    Let it analyse

It reviews yesterday and today automatically once a day, without you opening anything.

  3. 3

    Read the nudge

The widget shows one message: encouragement based on real progress, plus a suggested next habit when the pattern supports one.

  4. 4

    Act on one thing

Add the suggested habit or apply the change, then keep logging. The next day's analysis runs on the newer record.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the AI Mental Coach?

The Habit Coach is behavioural: completion patterns, streak risk, which habit to add next. The Mental Coach handles mindset, motivation and emotional resilience. They are separate features with separate jobs.

Is it free?

Yes. It is available on the free tier, with the interaction frequency rate-limited so each nudge stays relevant.

How does it choose what to suggest?

It analyses your own habit completion history and behavioural pattern to identify a next step with a realistic chance of sticking, rather than recommending from a fixed list.

Will it flood me with notifications?

No. It is capped at approximately one interaction per day and the result is cached, so there is no way for it to become a stream.

How long before it says anything useful?

It needs a few days of completions to have a pattern to read. On day one it can encourage; it cannot yet tell you anything you did not know.

Can I ignore a suggestion?

Yes, and ignoring one has no consequence. The suggestion is regenerated from your newer data rather than being held against you.
